I
highly recommend Aakuta: the Dark Mage
Richard S. Tuttle introduces a new "main" character (Aakuta)
to his target audience in an intriguing way, and with appetizing appeal.
Although Aakuta: the Dark Mage deals much with politics of
control in Khadora, Mr. Tuttle sets the readers up for following books
in the "Forgotten Legacy" series, and leaves one wondering who
exactly is Aakuta, and how will this mage continue his role in saving or
overpowering Khadora. I highly recommend "Aakuta: the Dark
Mage," especially for fans of the "Forgotten Legacy"
series.

Aakuta:
the Dark Mage - Book Four of Forgotten Legacy by Richard S. Tuttle
continues the saga of Lord Marak's attempt to unite the divided clans of
Khadora against a great evil. Marak's task is not made easy, considering
that the powerful magician, Zygor, with his massive army of Jiadin
warriors, plans to take over the country of Khadora.
To make matters worse, Marak's "abolition of slavery" has area
clan lords in an uproar, and his grain caravans are being ambushed.
Suspicions are that a spy is among the Torak clan, a spy who may be
working for one of the "Lords' Council". Intent on uniting the
clans, Marak attends the "Assembly of Lords" at the Imperial
Palace, even though he knows his presence is not welcome.
When an assassination attempt to Emperor Bagora fails, Marak is
arrested. A "mage," dressed in a black cloak, uses magic to
free Lord Marak from his cell. Marak has heard of a male mage named
"Aakuta," and thinks this magician is the one who released
him; for what reasons, he knows not. So Marak must prove his innocence
or die, by command of the emperor or by the assassin that hunts them
both.
